Sew-Ins & Keratin Bonds: Everything You Need to Know About Hair Extensions in Nashville, TN

November 23, 2024

Sometimes all you need is that extra little bit of volume, length, or depth to your hair.

Maybe your hair is starting to thin and you want to achieve a certain hairstyle for a special occasion that’s quickly approaching. Or maybe you recently cut your hair short and are having second thoughts about it.

Either way, it’s okay to not like your hair—I mean, it’s not like you can’t change it…

Enter hair extensions.

The tiny little secret that’s so good none of your Nashville, TN friends will know.

Hair extensions are strands of hair, either synthetic or natural, that are added to a person's natural hair to enhance length, volume, or thickness—and they’re available in a wide range of styles, colors, and types.

Whether you’re looking to complement or completely transform your look, hair extensions are the answer!

Finding the Perfect Fit for You

Here at Slay Bae Beauty Co., we understand that no two heads of hair are the same.

That’s why we meet with each individual client to discuss their goals, perform a hair and scalp analysis, and determine which type of hair extension will help them achieve the look, feel, and style they want.

And trust us, there are a lot of different options to choose from.

Especially when you’re talking about The Slay Signature Collection

The Slay Signature Collection is our exclusive line of luxury hair extensions—meaning you won’t find anything like it anywhere else in the Nashville area. And we’ll even custom cut them to your liking!

Sew-ins, keratin bonds, I-tips, tape-ins, mesh integrations—the possibilities are endless, but don’t worry. We’re the hair extension gurus you’ve been looking for and we’ll help you navigate your options.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of the most popular types of hair extensions we use today!

6. It’s Sew Secure: Sew-In Weft Extensions

With sew-in weft extensions, we thread small sections of your hair through tiny beads, which are secured close to your scalp before sewing the weft (a strip of hair) onto the beads for a natural, long-lasting look.

They’re “sew” secure that they can last six months to a year.

This technique is commonly used for individuals with thicker hair, as it requires a sturdy foundation to securely attach the extensions. Once installed, the extensions are cut, styled, and blended as needed.

5. Bond, Keratin Bond: For a Natural Look

Keratin bond hair extensions, also known as fusion hair extensions, are a semi-permanent hair extension method where individual strands of extensions are bonded to natural hair using a keratin-based adhesive.

They’re one of the more natural-looking and lightweight options that exist today.

They offer 360° mobility, they blend seamlessly with the natural hair, and they don’t require as many maintenance or follow-up visits. But they do take a while to install and it does involve a heat applicator.

4. I-Tip You Not: I-Tip Extensions

I-tip hair extensions, also known as microlinks, microrings, and/or cold fusion extensions, are a lot like keratin bonds and produce similar, seamless results, but no heat or adhesive is used during installation.

They provide a lightweight, natural look and feel, but require maintenance every eight weeks.

Unlike keratin bonds, I-tips are attached using tiny silicone-lined beads, which are clamped onto small sections of natural hair to hold the extensions in place. Once installed, we’ll cut and style it for you.

3. Tape It Or Leave It: Tape-In Extensions

Tape-in hair extensions are a semi-permanent extension method where thin wefts of hair are attached to the natural hair using a strong, medical-grade adhesive tape—as opposed to using heat or a tiny clip.

It’s a rather quick process, compared to other semi-permanent options.

While they require maintenance every eight weeks, installation only takes about one to two hours—and since they’re lightweight and lie flat against the scalp, they provide a seamless and natural look and feel.

2. Clip It Real Good: Custom Clip-In Extensions

Unlike the four methods described above, clip-in extensions are a temporary, non-permanent method for adding length, volume, or color to your hair. They also don’t require any heat or adhesive during install.

If you like to change your look often, then clip-ins are what you’re looking for!

Clip-in extensions consist of wefts of hair with small clips attached, allowing them to be easily clipped into natural hair and removed without professional assistance. The more you practice, the easier it’ll get!

And don’t worry, we’ll custom order the perfect set of clip-ins for any event or special day. Not only will it match your exact hair color, but we’ll bring you in for a follow-up to cut them and show you how they work!

1. Stop Meshin’ Around: Mesh Integration

Mesh integrations are a type of hair extension primarily used for individuals with thinning hair, bald spots, or those who have lost at least 50% of their hair due to conditions like alopecia or post cancer treatment.

Each system is tailored to the individual, ensuring a natural appearance.

Not only does the lightweight mesh allow for greater airflow, making it more comfortable to wear, but it offers a realistic look by incorporating the wearer’s natural hair and is an alternative to hair transplants.
